Pictogram
A pictogram (or icon) is a graphic symbol that conveys meaning through its pictorial resemblance to a physical object. It is pretty clear — no matter what language you speak — which side was which on the Brooklyn Bridge.
An average of 5,625 bicyclists cross the Brooklyn Bridge daily, a total that has more than doubled since the city installed dedicated, two-way bike lanes on the lower level (2021).
