Name

Ring is famous for being rejected by Shark Tank and then selling to Amazon five years later. The company was founded by Jamie Siminoff in 2013 as Doorbot, which he pitched (unsuccessfully) to the “Sharks” that very same year.

Renamed Ring in 2014, the smart doorbell and home security provider was acquired by Amazon in 2018 (for over $1.2 billion according to Wikipedia).

Ring is an exemplary name any way you look at it:

  • Relevant
  • Memorable
  • Short
  • Easy to read (and pronounce)
  • Positive sounding
  • Nice looking (conducive to brand ID design)

With good-feeling connotations already built-in.

It has a ring to it.
